Ferry Trip from Ettalong to Palm Beach

I only found out this existed a year ago in a conversation with someone and it literally blew my mind. I grew up in Sydney and have been to Palm Beach a number of times, even living on the Central Coast I had driven there. However,  I did not know you could get on a 30-minute ferry from Ettalong on the Central Coast to Palm Beach.

We started the day by driving to the Wharf in Ettalong and waiting for the next ferry. Fantasea runs the ferry and the overall experience we had was great. You pay on board either by cash or eftpos and we paid around $35 return for 1 adult and 1 concession, click here for the link for the ticket prices.

The journey across to Palm Beach was pleasant and only took 30 minutes. You can also take a bike onboard for an extra $3 or a restrained pet dog for no extra cost.

Once we arrived, there were some public toilets just near the Wharf and some shops across the road. However, if you want to see the famous spots in Home and Away you need to walk all the way towards the lighthouse. There is also a bus you can get which can take you that way and back to the Wharf to get the ferry which comes in handy when it’s raining or for elderly people. Mum and I decided we would have lunch at THE BOAT HOUSE café which was in the direction of the lighthouse but only a 15 minute walk away. I would highly recommend eating here, although a little more pricey the views were amazing and it was all very high-quality food. Mum and I shared a salad and chips which was very filling and cost under $30 for both of us. If you wanted a cheaper option for food there are many take away fish and chip shops where you could just order and sit by the beach to eat.

After going for a little wonder, mum and I got the bus back to the Wharf and then had a look at the shops down the main strip. Due to being with mum and the weather we didn’t do a lot of walking but there is so much you could see if you went for a walk including the two sides of beaches, the lighthouse and then walking back towards Sydney way. I should also note the bus that goes through Palm Beach goes to Manly which is pretty convenient if you wanted to spend more of the day down that way. This would also be the perfect day out if you wanted to go to a secluded beach and spend the day in the water!

As easy as we arrived, we departed back on the ferry to Ettalong. I had a great day!

Next time I am taking my dog Scout!
