Oahu

I have been lucky enough to travel to Oahu three times now, and I would have to say Oahu is probably my favourite place I have ever been. It’s unlike anywhere else, it’s both tropical and has the feel of being untouched but at the same time it is modern and has a lot of American culture. The locals are the sweetest, kind people you will ever meet and the local culture has a deep love and connection with the earth and taking care of it, which I really admire.

Some of the highlights I have had whilst being in Oahu, has been the different day trips I have done around the island. These include:

  • Dole Pineapple Plantation
  • Hanauma Bay State Park
  • Koko Railway
  • Eating from a local shrimp van
  • Waikiki Beach and main strip of shops
  • Swimming with Turtles on the beach
  • Scuba Diving

In another post, I write in detail about each of these experiences.

Waikiki

Waikiki is the main area in which most tourists stay, it is quite expensive to get accommodation. However, in the main strip of Waikiki there is a lot to do, including the Honolulu Zoo which is down one end. In the shopping centre there is always free activities on for children and a lot of people go swimming or do water activities seeing how close it is to the beach.

There is only two types of weather in Hawaii, hot or very hot, so it makes it an ideal place to visit any time of year.
